During this introductory workshop teenagers are invited to join me in the studio for a day of leather crafting, they will use a range of leather crafting techniques and tools and make at least 2 products.
They will start by choosing leather from a selection of beautiful leathers from preloved items such as sofa covers and manufacturing plant excess leather.
To start, they will go through the stages of pattern cutting, polishing, leather cementing, hammering, stitching and hole punching to make a simple bookmark or key ring.
They can they use these skills to design a product such as a earphone holder, wallet or book cover, they can use prepared patterns or design their own pattern. Once completed they can add stamps and studs and if time allows they can make additional small items using their new skills.
