As a Community Interest Company (CIC), Finch values the wellbeing of our local Cardiff community.

Hence, our goal is to offer free and subsidised creative activities and workshops to community members who are experiencing financial hardship, isolation or mental health issues. Ultimately, helping them connect through creativity.

During our activities, we’ll ensure individuals learn how to upcycle everyday products to reduce waste. In doing so, we aim to enable attendees to discover a sustainable way to save money and learn life skills while connecting socially with diverse groups of people.

We can host events for up to 22 people at our sister business ‘Lark Design Make’ in Cathays, Cardiff, or we can come to your office or chosen venue.

Using creative activities to brings people together has become hugely popular over the past few years, not just as an exercise in team building, but also for the benefits to personal wellbeing that creating things can bring. We have written a blog post about these mental benefits which you can read here.

Essentially, the benefits of group crafting are:

  • People are able to relax whilst focusing on the task at hand, enabling people to communicate in more effective ways and connect with one another.

  • It’s a great way to practice mindfulness: not stressing about past or future or past events, just focusing on the activity in the moment.

  • It helps strengthen your cognitive abilities, including improved problem solving, better hand-eye coordination, and apparently also memory-retrieval!
